We can usually accommodate one or two persons in our house, where there's a large kitchen for our visitors. Otherwise, we’ll arrange for cheap accommodation in the vicinity. Among the advantages of taking the training in Rimouski, there is the fact that you’ll meet many kasàlà practitioners here and see how kasàlà is used as a powerful intervention tool in the department of psycho-sociology. After the training week, you can stay one or several more weeks and why not take a trip to the "nearby" Gaspésie with its rich variety of landscapes ?

Schedule :

Module 5 : African Languages

(Kiswahili or Cilubà)

My On-line Programs allow you to reach a communication level in an African language - Kiswahili (spoken in East Africa and in the DRC) and/or Cilubà (spoken in the DRC) - in order to communicate in an African language without leaving your home.

By the way, Cilubà is one of the languages in which the practice of traditional kasàlà is still very much alive. The term "kasàlà" itself, which I have chosen as a general term for praise poetry in Africa, is a Cilubà word (Kabuta 2008. Dictionary Cilubà-Français. Recall, Gent. Also available online: http://www.ciyem.ugent.be).

As to Kiswahili, it is not only the most spoken African language, it is also the language of marvelous "majigambo" or kasàlàs of Self (Kabuta 1997. Isimu-Ushairi: Muundo wa Majigambo).

Content :

  • Basic grammar

  • Basic vocabulary

  • Colloquial phrases

  • Writing

  • Reading

  • Conversations

  • Etc.
